Maryrose McInerney, Ph.D., CCC-A

Dr. Maryrose McInerney is a full-time faculty member of the audiology program at Montclair State University (MSU), where her focus is on pediatrics, amplification, and aural rehabilitation for the lifespan. Prior to 2013, Dr. McInerney was an associate professor at LI AUD Consortium, St. John’s University. She is the Chief Executive Officer of Hackensack Audiology and Hearing Aid Associates, LLC.

Dr. McInerney has been practicing audiology since 1979. She received her Ph.D. in hearing science from the CUNY Graduate Center of New York and her master’s degree in audiology from Western Michigan University. She completed her clinical fellowship year at John Hopkins Medical School. She has practiced audiology in New Jersey for the past 35 years, establishing an audiology department at the Hackensack Medical Center more than 20 years ago.

Dr. McInerney’s research interests include quality-of-life issues of the hearing impaired as well as the development-of-outcome measures of amplification systems. She assisted in the development and implementation of Open the Doors to Better Hearing, a program that raises awareness among doctors, nurses, and other health professionals about the invisible disorder of hearing loss.

Dr. McInerney is a board-elected member and currently elected vice chair of the Council on Academic Accreditation (CAA) in audiology and speech-language pathology of the American Speech and Hearing Association. The New Jersey Commissioner of Health appointed her to the New Jersey Hearing Council Advisory Board in 2012. She is the audiology professional consultant for the Hearing Loss of America Association. She serves on the pediatric advisory boards of the Better Hearing Institute and the NJ Hearing Loss of America. She has been published in various professional journals, is an editor of several journals, and has presented nationally on rehabilitation of the hearing impaired child and adult.

Dr. McInerney holds the Certificate of Clinical Competence in Audiology (CCC-A) from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Aid Association, and she is a New Jersey State licensed audiologist and hearing aid dispenser. She is a member of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA), the American Academy of Audiology (AAA), the New Jersey State Speech-Language-Hearing Association (NYSSLHA), the New Jersey Academy of Audiology, and the American Auditory Society (AAS). She has been consistently awarded Best of Hearing Health Professionals by Hearing Review.
Dr. McInerney is an active member in her community, working with the youth in her parish on the Bridges Outreach program, the Shelter Our Sisters program of Bergen County, and the Women United in Philanthropy organization of Bergen County.
